About Climate Change and its impact

Nepal is not just waiting for the worst to happen. The country has set some of the most ambitious climate targets in the developing world:
- Net-Zero by 2045: Nepal has committed to staying cumulatively net-zero carbon by 2045 and plans to become carbon-negative after that.
- Guarding the Forests: The government maintains a strict target to keep at least 45% of the country’s total land covered by forest.
- Community-Led Adaptation: Local communities are pioneering adaptation strategies, from building early-warning systems for floods to adopting drought-resistant crop varieties.

What happens in the Himalayas does not stay in the Himalayas. These mountains serve as the "Water Tower of Asia," providing fresh water to over a billion people downstream in India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. If the glaciers disappear, the water security of the entire subcontinent collapses.
